Urban’s
curiosity about the borderline areas of known appeared in his
childhood, when he was mostly interested in parapsychology.
During the adolescent age, he began to dive deeply in research
work of the self-consciousness. Explanations from esoteric and
occult literature couldn’t satisfy his curiosity anymore.
Conscious entering into realms of unconscious, lucid dreaming
and experiences of different human consciousness phenomena
became his regular practice. His experiences and cognition were
deepened among the Peruvian shamans of the Amazon rainforest.
In last couple of years, he expanded his activities to coaching
the experimental-training workshops, which are based on the work
with unconscious contents and processes, and on bringing them to
the conscious. Urban also provides group or individual
counseling on those topics.

PSYCHONAUTICS, POWER PLANTS & INNER DIMENSIONS
A modern concept of psychonautics
indicates the practice of different ways of induction,
exploration and action in altered states of consciousness. The
psychonautics is in fact based on old shamanic techniques by
using similar tools and elements such as lucid dreaming, sensory
deprivation, the use of music, sounds and cognitive technology,
as well as psychoactive substances.
The use of psychoactive substances has been under persecution
since ancient times. Nowadays their effects are categorised as
hallucinations (from Greek alyo, halyo – groping about, raving;
or from Latin alutinatia – senselessness, fancy)
The users, mainly shamans, who for the rituals used the plants
with psychoactive characteristics have been proclaimed mad and
imprudent. Shamans have called the states after consuming the
substances the visions, they communicated with immaterial
beings, travelled into other dimensions, searched for and
removed the causes of illnesses and different troubles. For
shamans the plants with such effects still play an important and
special role, so even today we trace such terms as the plants of
power, holy plants...
The lecture will address some key mechanisms, processes that
take place during such rituals/ initiations, on both individual
and group level. We will discuss the depths of shamanic –
psychonautic travels and what can be encountered in those
dimensions.
